September is not a vibe. It is a calendar.
Labor Day weekend was September 4–7. Quarter-end is September 30. 2027 metal is already rolling onto the same lots. Cars that sat 70-plus days in August are the ones dealers need gone before the next model-year invoice lands.
Do not shop a RAV4, CR-V, Civic, or Corolla for a “deal.” Those still turn in under 20 days with almost no factory cash. You will pay near sticker and thank the sales manager for the floor mats.
Shop the slow ones. These ten have the inventory and the programs.
1. Nissan Frontier
CarEdge called this the best retail deal in the country in August: 0% APR for 60 months or about $4,500 cash, on trucks sitting a median 73 days. That offer pattern is still the September play. Midsize truck money without midsize-truck wait.
2. Ram 1500
Days’ supply has been ugly all year. Factory support has included 0% for 60 months or several thousand in retail cash — $3,500 on some scans, over $7,000 on certain Big Horn / Lone Star trims earlier in the summer. If you are not getting well into the mid-teens off MSRP on a loaded 1500, keep walking.
3. Chevrolet Silverado 1500
GM has been running 0% for 60 months plus deferred first payment on Silverado when Ford’s F-150 0% was capped shorter. Full-size truck average transaction prices are still north of $66,000. The discount is how you make that number livable.
4. Hyundai Ioniq 9
Three-row EV with $10,000 customer cash in recent national programs, lease cash that has run even fatter, and Hyundai offers dated through early September. On a sticker near $59,000, ten grand is not a coupon. It is the difference between “electric experiment” and “family math.”
5. Kia EV9
Same $10,000 cash pile as the Ioniq 9. Same segment. 0% for 60 months has been on the sheet as the alternative to cash. If you want a three-row EV and you refuse to pay Tesla-adjacent money, this is the lot to work.
6. Infiniti QX80
Full-size luxury SUV with $10,000 cash and programs running into late September in some write-ups. Median days on lot near three months in August. Nobody is fighting you for the last QX80. Stack the cash and a dealer discount.
7. Nissan Rogue
Up to $4,500 cash nationwide on recent sheets, 0% for 60 months on gas and PHEV versions. Compact SUV volume Nissan cannot sit on. Rogue PHEV has seen $5,000. This is the opposite of a RAV4 negotiation.
8. Honda Ridgeline
Consumer Reports flagged 11%+ under MSRP into early September. Honda does not dump cash like Nissan. When Ridgeline is discounted, it is because the midsize-truck customer went Frontier or Ranger. Take the Honda residual anyway.
9. Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid
CR had 11%+ off on the hybrid SEL AWD. Santa Fe also carried 0% for 60 months plus modest cash. Three-row-adjacent Hyundai that is not Palisade money. Leftover 2025 Palisade Calligraphy still showed $6,500 cash in summer clearance — ask if any remain.
10. Audi Q7
Fifteen percent under sticker showed up on CR’s August list. $6,000 customer bonus on Q7/SQ7 ran through late August and is the kind of program Audi renews when Q9 arrivals crowd the showroom. German three-row with real room to talk.
How to Use September Without Getting Played
Cash and 0% almost never stack. Pick one. Out-the-door beats monthly. A 0% loan on a $52,000 truck you overpaid is not a win.
Get the program expiration in writing. Honda and Hyundai sheets have run to September 8. Ford and Lincoln to September 30. Nissan often dies with the month. “We’ll honor it next week” is not a contract.
Do not finance the paint package to hit a payment. If the only way the number works is 84 months, you cannot afford the car. Run lease versus buy on the EV three-rows and the QX80 before you sign a capitalized cost that still looks like last year’s sticker.
The desperate dealers are not hiding. They are the ones with Frontiers, Rams, Ioniq 9s, and QX80s aging past 60 days. The busy dealers have RAV4s. Act like you know the difference.
