2027 Chrysler Pacifica Just Got Refreshed — Can a Minivan That Says ‘FML’ in Its Own Ad Actually Sell?

Chrysler did not redesign the minivan.

Chrysler redesigned the punchline.

On August 18 the brand launched “Acronyms,” a digital campaign that hijacks STFU, IDGAF, and FML and slaps them on Stow ’n Go, FamCam, and dual sliders. Olivier François called it family shorthand. The spots are 15 and 30 seconds of backpacks, sliding doors, and a van that is supposed to be the adult in the chat.

That is the marketing. The metal arrived earlier — New York Auto Show April 1, orders open March 9, dealers through the summer. Select, Limited, and Pinnacle get vertical LED lamps and an illuminated “piano key” grille plus the new wing badge. LX, the old Voyager with a new name, keeps the previous face and starts at $41,495 before destination. Select FWD is $44,545. Pinnacle AWD is $58,255.

Car and Driver called the whole refresh one of the laziest updates in years. Two years of camouflage mules. New nose. New badge. Same 287-hp 3.6 Pentastar. Same nine-speed. Same cabin architecture. The surround-view graphic on some cars still draws the old front end. LX wears the old badge outside and the new one on the airbag cover.

That is not a halo. That is a budget.

What Actually Changed

Stow ’n Go is still the feature nobody else copies cleanly — second and third row into the floor. FamCam still watches the third row. Amazon Fire TV and the theater pack are now unbundled from Family Tech so you can buy screens without the rest of the catalog. Safety Sphere adds turn-signal blind-spot view and ParkSense camera pop-up. Adjustable-height power liftgate is standard so the hatch does not kiss the garage door.

America250 special: 2,100 units.

The plug-in hybrid is gone. Toyota still sells a Sienna that sips. Carnival still looks like an SUV. Pacifica is a V6 minivan in a year when hybrid three-rows are the adult conversation. Chrysler’s answer is an ad that says FML when the goldfish crackers hit the carpet.

Can It Sell?

It already does. Pacifica was America’s best-selling minivan in 2025. Sixteen million Chrysler minivans since the invention. Parents buy sliders and a flat floor, not a piano-key grille.

The risk is the segment, not the swear words. Sienna hybrid owners do not care that your commercial is funnier. Carnival owners wanted the boxy SUV look. A $41,495 LX that still looks like 2018 is the volume play. A $55,000 Pinnacle with Blue Agave Nappa is the lease-return play. Neither is a Honda Odyssey killer on fuel.

Stellantis quality and dealer inventory are the other half. Ram and Jeep have been living on 0% and fat cash. A minivan with a new face still has to clear the lot when the average new vehicle is fifty grand and the payment is a second rent check.

The FML ad will get clicks. Stow ’n Go will get signatures. The missing hybrid will get the forum thread.

Would you buy a van that jokes about your worst parenting day — or is that the year you finally crossed the lot to a Sienna?
